Matt Aimonetti on Writing DataMapper Adapters.

September 29, 2008

I’m a huge fan of the new Ruby ORM DataMapper. For various reasons I think it is the way of the future. One such reason is its flexibility, in particular the ability to integrate DataMapper with arbitrary datastores, not just relational databases. Matt Aimonetti just wrote a great article on the Google Video adapter he just wrote. Definitely check it out as a good starting point for writing your own adapter or simply getting a better grasp on one of the advantages DataMapper has over other ORMs like ActiveRecord.

P.S. The inaugural (and, as of this writing, current) issue of The Rubyist also has a nice introductory article to the same topic.

I've just relaunched the blog and, for now, the typography used here borrows quite a bit from some of the superb patterns found here. Thank you for the inspiration.
